Frequently Asked Question Posted 09/12/2026

Support told me a fix is available in a newer release. How do I find out which version of MovieSlate is installed on my iPad, and how do I make sure I'm on the latest one?

MovieSlate displays its version number right inside the app, so you can confirm at a glance whether you're running the current release.

Check the version installed on your device

  1. Open MovieSlate.
  2. Tap the Help tab.
  3. The version number is listed directly beneath the MovieSlate logo at the top of the screen (for example, 26.3).

This is also the number to quote whenever you contact support or send a bug report — it tells us exactly which build you're on.

Check whether a newer version is available

  1. Open the App Store on your iPad or iPhone.
  2. Tap your account icon in the top-right corner.
  3. Scroll to the Available Updates section, or pull down to refresh the list.
  4. If MovieSlate appears there, tap Update.

If MovieSlate isn't listed under Available Updates and the Help tab shows the current version number, you're already up to date.

Before you update

Updates are best done once you've wrapped for the day — never mid-shoot. We also strongly recommend making a backup of your data first, either to MovieSlate Cloud or via your regular backup routine, so your projects, takes, and script markup are protected.
If you were told a specific problem was fixed in a particular release and you're still seeing it after confirming you're on that version, please write in and let us know — include the version number from the Help tab so we can investigate.
