Frequently Asked Question Posted 06/27/2026

I'm connected to my BETSO WTCS-1's Wi-Fi but MovieSlate won't communicate with the slate. What are the correct steps to receive its timecode?

The BETSO WTCS-1 syncs over Wi-Fi. In MovieSlate 26.0 and newer, after you choose to receive over Wi-Fi, MovieSlate shows a new Peer Picker so you can tap the exact slate you want to sync with. Here are the steps:

  1. Open the iOS Settings app > Wi-Fi and join the same network used by the Betso.
  2. Launch MovieSlate.
  3. Make sure MovieSlate's Pro Features are enabled.
  4. Go to the MovieSlate tab.
  5. Tap the timecode display.
  6. Tap the SYNC button in the keypad.
  7. Tap Receive.
  8. Tap WiFi.
  9. MovieSlate opens the Choose a Timecode Source picker, listing every timecode source on the network. Tap your BETSO WTCS-1 — its live timecode is shown right on its row, so you can confirm you've picked the right slate.

MovieSlate locks to the Betso, and the timecode display switches to the Betso's timecode. The sync status confirms you're receiving over Wi-Fi from the slate.
If the Betso doesn't appear in the picker:
  • Confirm the WTCS-1 is powered on, joined to the same Wi-Fi network, and outputting timecode. A device that's online but not currently sending timecode is listed separately under Not Sending Timecode.
  • Tap Connect via IP Address… in the picker to reach the slate directly — useful on mesh or segmented networks where devices don't discover each other automatically.

Still won't connect? Open iOS Settings > MovieSlate and confirm that Local Network and Notifications are enabled — these permissions are sometimes reset after a system update.
