Frequently Asked Question Posted 06/12/2026

I'd like the video feed from Q-Take to show up in MovieSlate's Video tab, the way my old Teradek Cube did. Can MovieSlate pull in a Q-Take feed — and if not, is there a way to see both apps at once?

MovieSlate's built-in Video tab only connects to the Teradek Cube line of encoders. It can't pull a feed directly from Q-Take or other third-party monitoring apps and devices.
You can still see both at the same time using iOS multitasking instead:

  • Split View / Slide Over: Run MovieSlate and the Q-Take Monitor app side by side so you can slate and log while watching the feed. (See Apple's guide: support.apple.com ? "Open two apps in Split View on iPad.")
  • Picture in Picture: If the Q-Take Monitor app supports PiP, enable it in iOS Settings > General > Multitasking & Gestures, then float the video feed over MovieSlate while you work.

If your older Teradek Cube has become unreliable on WiFi, note that the Video tab is built specifically around the Teradek Cube/Clip hardware, so a newer Teradek encoder is the only option that appears natively inside MovieSlate.
