I have MovieSlate Pro and I'm trying to sync the app with a RED Komodo (or another newer RED camera), but it never appears when I tap Sync to Cameras. Why won't it connect?

MovieSlate's camera sync supports RED DSMC1 cameras (with the REDLink module) and RED DSMC2 cameras. It does not support RED DSMC3 cameras — which includes the Komodo, Komodo-X, and V-Raptor series. That's why a DSMC3 camera won't show up when you tap Sync to Cameras.
The reason is outside our control: connecting to RED cameras requires a software library that RED licenses to us. As of our most recent communication with them, RED indicated they do not plan to provide a DSMC3-compatible library to third-party developers like PureBlend — they appear to be reserving DSMC3 connectivity for their own applications.
We would very much like this to change, and we'll update our compatibility information if RED's position changes. For the current list of supported cameras, see movie-slate.com/Camera_Sync.
In the meantime, if you need timecode aligned between MovieSlate and a DSMC3 camera, you can sync them to a common external timecode source rather than connecting the camera directly to the app.
