I was having trouble with MovieSlate — my tabs were missing or it said my purchase wasn't approved — so I deleted the app and reinstalled it. Now all my projects and history are gone. Is there any way to get my data back?Important: MovieSlate stores all of your project data — shot logs, history, reports, and settings — locally inside the app on your device. This data does not live on a server. When you delete the app, Apple also deletes all of that data permanently. There is no way for PureBlend to retrieve it on your behalf. Can I Recover My Data? The only way to recover data after deleting MovieSlate is from a MovieSlate Cloud backup you made before the deletion.
If no backup exists, the data is unfortunately unrecoverable. MovieSlate Cloud is a separate subscription — if you were not signed in to it before deleting the app, no backup was made. Why You Should Never Delete MovieSlate to Fix Purchase or Tab IssuesDeleting and reinstalling MovieSlate is almost never the right fix for authentication or tab issues — and it puts all your logged data at risk. If your tabs are missing, features say "unapproved," or you can't log in:
If the service is experiencing an outage, wait a few minutes and try Restore Purchases again. Force-closing and reopening the app can also help. Deleting the app is a last resort and should only be done after making a MovieSlate Cloud backup first. How to Avoid This in the FutureGet into the habit of backing up to MovieSlate Cloud at the end of every shoot day or whenever you wrap a project. Go to Settings > MovieSlate Cloud and tap Backup Now. Backups are stored indefinitely and you can have multiple backups across different projects. |
