Frequently Asked Question
Posted 06/27/2026
I'm shooting a music video and the track isn't released yet. Can I only choose a song from my iTunes library, or is there a way to get my own MP3/WAV into the app to sync to?
MovieSlate plays back audio through Apple's Media Library, so the track does need to be in your device's music library — but you can absolutely add your own unreleased MP3 or WAV. - On your Mac or Windows PC, use the Music app (or Finder on newer macOS) to manually sync your MP3/WAV file to your iPhone or iPad. (Apple has instructions for manually syncing music to an iOS device.)
- Once the track is on your device, open MovieSlate, tap the timecode display, then tap the SYNC button.
- On the Music Video screen, tap the Song button in the upper-right corner and use Apple's media picker to select the track you synced.
- From there you can set In/Out points and markers.
