Frequently Asked Question Posted 06/25/2026

My Progress Report is totaling roughly twice what I actually shot — for example I shot 13 setups (A through N) but the report says 26, or my scene count is doubled. Where is the extra count coming from?

This almost always happens because a number has been typed into one of the correction fields on the Script Dept Setup screen — most commonly the SCENES field. MovieSlate treats those fields as a manual adjustment that is added to the work you actually logged. So if you logged 13 scenes and also entered 13 in the SCENES field, the report adds them together and shows 26. The same thing produces an inflated setup or page count.
To fix it:

  1. Go to the Script Dept > Setup screen for the day in question.
  2. Find the SCENES field (and any other count field you may have typed a correction into).
  3. Clear the number so the field is empty, leaving MovieSlate to count only what you actually logged.
  4. Re-generate your Progress Report. The totals should now match what you shot.

These correction fields exist for the situation where some scenes were not logged in MovieSlate — for example, when a colleague logged in your place and you need to account for that day's work. Use them only to add work that isn't already in your logged data. If everything was logged normally in MovieSlate, leave the count fields blank. You can read about these fields in the User Guide under Script Dept: Setup > Setup Day Info.
