Can I use MovieSlate on a Mac, such as a MacBook Pro, instead of an iPad or iPhone?

Yes, but only on newer Macs with Apple Silicon. MovieSlate runs on Macs that meet both of these requirements:

An Apple Silicon processor — an M1 chip or newer.
macOS 11 "Big Sur" or newer.

MovieSlate cannot run on Macs with Intel processors, or on any Mac running a version of macOS earlier than 11.
On a supported Apple Silicon Mac, MovieSlate is the same iPad/iPhone app running in a window on your desktop. Keep in mind that some hardware-based features (for example, timecode sync through the device's headphone jack) are designed around iOS devices, so an iPad or iPhone is still the best choice for on-set work.
