Frequently Asked Question Posted 06/09/2026

I have my wired timecode cabling set up correctly, and under the timecode test I can see a strong incoming signal. But when I go back to the slate, the app's timecode still isn't matching my generator. What am I missing?

Seeing a strong signal in the test only confirms that MovieSlate is receiving and decoding the incoming LTC. It does not automatically lock the app's timecode to that signal — you still have to start the sync. (A Pro Features subscription is required for timecode sync.)
With your timecode source plugged in:

  1. Tap the timecode display at the top of the slate.
  2. Tap the SYNC button.
  3. On the "Send or Receive Timecode?" menu, tap Receive.
  4. From the Source menu, tap Wired Microphone Input.

If your signal is being decoded in the Test Headphone Connection screen, MovieSlate should lock the app's timecode to it within a second or two.
If the Receive/Sync button seems unresponsive at first: the button can be briefly delayed right after you connect a wired source. Wait a few moments and try tapping it again — once the app is ready, the button becomes active and you can complete the Receive > Wired step above.
