Frequently Asked Question Posted 06/25/2026

When I line my script, the coverage bubble used to print the scene and take number (like 20C/2), but now it's printing the timecode instead. It started when I switched to two cameras. Does that mean I can't line the script in a multicam project?

You can absolutely line the script in a multicam project — the bubble just needs the right setting. MovieSlate keeps two completely separate sets of coverage-line settings: one for SingleCam and one for MultiCam. This is intentional, so you can mark single-camera and multi-camera projects differently. MovieSlate uses whichever set matches the SINGLECAM / MULTICAM button on your Script Dept Setup screen for the current production.
When you switched the production to MultiCam, MovieSlate began using your MultiCam coverage-line settings — and those happen to be configured to place the timecode in the bubble rather than the scene and take. Your SingleCam settings were showing scene/take, which is why it looked correct before.
To set the bubble contents:

  1. Go to Settings > Script Dept > Coverage Lines.
  2. On the Settings for row, choose MultiCam, then open MultiCam Contents.
  3. Set it to show the Scene & Take (you can combine fields — for example scene and take plus camera angle — if you wish).
  4. Repeat for SingleCam Contents so both sets match your preference.

After updating both, the bubble you place with the Bubble tool will print the scene and take again, in both single-camera and multi-camera projects.
