Frequently Asked Questions

We know you have them, here are answers to the common ones.

Frequently Asked Question Posted 06/24/2026

After I scan pages from a new script PDF, I'm seeing leftover scenes from a previous script mixed in with the new ones. Why, and how do I get a clean breakdown?

This is expected behavior. Scanning new PDF pages does not delete your existing Breakdown scenes — it adds to them. That's intentional, because many users import a few new pages each day and need their earlier breakdown to stay intact.
The leftover scenes appear when you switch to a completely different script PDF without clearing the old breakdown first, so the old scene data lingers (stale) alongside the new.
To get a clean breakdown for a new script:

  1. Delete all existing Breakdown scenes first.
  2. Then scan the pages from the fresh PDF.

If you're just adding new pages to the same script, don't delete anything — let MovieSlate append the new scenes as usual.
