Frequently Asked Question Posted 06/23/2026

Someone sent me a share code to download a shared MovieSlate project, but when I try to use it I get an "invalid" error. Does the code expire, and what can I do?

MovieSlate project share codes are deliberately short-lived and locked to specific people, so an "invalid" message usually comes down to one of two things:

  • The code has expired. Share codes are valid for 24 hours after they're created. After that they stop working.
  • You're not the intended recipient. A share code can only be redeemed by the person who created it and the specific person it was sent to. A third party can't use someone else's code, even if they have it.

What to do:
  1. The simplest fix is to ask the original sender to generate and send a new share code, then redeem it within 24 hours.
  2. If the sender is unavailable (for example, out of the country with no access), contact PureBlend support. As long as the underlying share record hasn't been deleted yet, we can sometimes manually reset its start and end dates so the existing code works again.
