Frequently Asked Question Posted 06/23/2026

When I play music from MovieSlate through my speakers from my iPhone or iPad, the sound quality is poor or there's a noticeable delay. How can I fix it?

If you're playing to your speakers over AirPlay, the delay you're hearing is AirPlay latency, not MovieSlate. AirPlay adds a built-in gap between playback and the speaker — roughly 2.3 seconds for AirPlay 1 and about 1.3 seconds for AirPlay 2.
For the best quality and lowest latency, use a cable instead of AirPlay:

  • Connect through the headphone jack, or use a Lightning-to-3.5mm or USB-C-to-3.5mm adapter, depending on your device.
  • If you're already using a cable and the quality is still poor, try a different cable or adapter — a faulty adapter is a common culprit.

MovieSlate uses the standard audio playback that iOS/iPadOS provides, so you shouldn't notice a quality difference between MovieSlate and Apple's own Music app.
If the problem is that you can't select a track at all, make sure MovieSlate has access to your music: go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Media & Apple Music and enable MovieSlate.
