Frequently Asked Question Posted 06/10/2026

I'm thinking about buying a Deneke TS-3 smart slate. Can I sync it with MovieSlate 8?

The Deneke TS-3 has no Bluetooth or app-based syncing ability, so it cannot connect to MovieSlate wirelessly or exchange data with the app. However, you can still jam-sync it to MovieSlate's timecode using a wired LTC connection.
With MovieSlate's Pro Features, the app can output an LTC timecode signal through the iPad's headphone jack. You can feed that signal into the TS-3 to jam-sync it. To do this you'll need a LINE-to-MIC cable, plus a USB-C or Lightning headphone adapter depending on which iPad model you have.
This is the same situation as the Deity TC-SL1: you can jam-sync over a wired LTC connection, but there is no Bluetooth or app sync. If you specifically want a slate that syncs with MovieSlate over Bluetooth — including having the clapper sticks start a new shot in MovieSlate — the BETSO WTCS-1 is the slate that supports that.
For the cables and adapters needed for wired LTC input, see movie-slate.com/Timecode_Cables.
