Frequently Asked Question Posted 06/12/2026

When I import MovieSlate's CSV into DaVinci Resolve I have to rename the FILE column to match DaVinci's 'File Name' column, which means editing the CSV in Excel first. Can I rename the FILE field label inside MovieSlate so it exports the way I need?

Yes. MovieSlate lets you apply a custom label to the Camera FILE field, and that custom label flows through to the CSV export — so you can match a destination column like DaVinci Resolve's File Name without editing the file afterward.

  1. Go to Settings > Text Fields > Camera.
  2. Tap the FILE field and enter your preferred label (for example, File Name).
  3. Generate your CSV report as usual — the column header now uses your custom label, so it lines up with your NLE's expected column on import.

This removes the extra step of opening the CSV in Excel just to rename the column before importing into DaVinci Resolve.
