Frequently Asked Question Posted 06/05/2026

I've seen references to MovieSlate syncing with Arri and RED cameras. Which specific camera models are supported for direct WiFi or network sync?

MovieSlate's Pro Features support direct WiFi/network sync with a limited set of camera models:

  • RED DSMC1: Supported via the optional RED REDLink module.
  • RED DSMC2: Supported via the camera's built-in REDLink networking — no additional hardware needed.
  • RED DSMC3 (V-RAPTOR, etc.): Not currently supported. RED's DSMC3 platform requires a new software library; as of the last communication with RED, they were not planning to offer that library to third-party developers.
  • ARRI Alexa and Alexa XT: Were previously supported via the Timecode Systems Pulse smart hub (which acted as a translator between the camera and MovieSlate over WiFi). However, the Pulse has been discontinued by Atomos/Timecode Systems and is no longer available new.
  • ARRI Alexa Mini (and Mini LF): Not supported. The Alexa Mini uses a completely different sync protocol than the Alexa/Alexa XT and is not compatible with the Pulse hub workflow.
  • Sony, Canon, Panasonic, and other brands: No direct WiFi sync is supported, and there are no plans to add further camera integrations at this time.

For cameras not on the supported list, you can still sync MovieSlate's timecode to the camera using wired LTC jam sync — connect MovieSlate to the camera's timecode input port using a compatible cable. See MovieSlate's Timecode Cables page for tested cable options.
