Can MovieSlate output LTC timecode to a Tentacle Sync E through a cable to jam-sync the Tentacle? If so, what kind of cable do I need?

Yes — MovieSlate can send LTC timecode out to a Tentacle Sync E via a cable, which causes the Tentacle to jam-sync to MovieSlate's timecode. This is useful if you want to use MovieSlate as your timecode master and distribute that timecode to cameras via the Tentacle.
Cable required: A standard 3-band TRS cable (?" / 3.5mm) is all you need to send timecode out from MovieSlate. You do not need the special 4-band TRRS cable — that is only required when receiving timecode in from an external LTC source (to convert the LINE level signal down to the iPad's MIC level input).
Setup procedure:

  1. Set and start your desired timecode in MovieSlate.
  2. Connect the 3-band TRS cable from the iPad's headphone/audio port to the Tentacle Sync E's input.
  3. Adjust the volume controls on the iPad until the Tentacle picks up the signal — watch the Tentacle's indicator to confirm it is receiving and locking to the timecode.
  4. Once the Tentacle has jammed, you can stop MovieSlate from outputting and then switch MovieSlate to sync from the Tentacle over Bluetooth.

Note: Tentacle Sync E and similar Bluetooth timecode devices do not allow third-party apps to set their timecode directly via Bluetooth. The cable jam-sync workflow described above is the recommended method for syncing these devices to MovieSlate's timecode.
