Frequently Asked Questions

We know you have them, here are answers to the common ones.

Frequently Asked Question Posted 05/26/2026

I sent my annotated script to another script supervisor but they can't see any of my markup lines — only the logging data shows up. How do I fix this, and how do I control which annotations are public or private?

This is almost always caused by your annotations being set to Private. Private annotations are visible only to you and are excluded from shared Script PDF reports by default.

How to Change an Annotation from Private to Public

  1. Open the script PDF in MovieSlate and navigate to a page with your markup.
  2. Display the toolbar and tap the Select tool (the icon showing a box with a dashed outline).
  3. Use the Select tool to tap or drag over the markup you want to change.
  4. With the markup selected, tap the Public/Private button on the toolbar.
  5. Choose Public from the Make Selected Annotations Public or Private? menu.

Repeat for any other pages with private markup.

Quick Fix: Include Private Annotations in Your Report

If you need to share immediately without changing each annotation individually, you can include private annotations when generating your report:
  1. Go to Reports and choose Script PDF.
  2. In the report options, turn on Include Private Annotations.
  3. Select which pages to include and generate the report.

Also Check: PDF File Version

If the recipient is still not seeing your markup, confirm that they have your most recently shared PDF. Compare the filename — if they have an older version of the script PDF, your markup will not appear even if it is set to Public.
