Frequently Asked Question Posted 06/02/2026

I have 'Auto-Save Performance Laps' turned on in MovieSlate, but my stopwatch laps are not showing up in the take notes or shot history. What am I missing?

There are two requirements for laps to be saved as a performance note:

  1. You must record at least two laps during a take. A single lap is not saved — the performance note is only created when two or more complete laps exist for that take.
  2. Enable "Auto-Stop Stopwatch when shot ends" in Settings. Without this setting, the second lap may still be running when the take ends. MovieSlate counts it as incomplete and does not save the note.

To enable the workaround: tap Settings > Script Dept and turn on Auto-Stop Stopwatch when shot ends. This ensures the active lap is terminated when the take ends, completing all recorded laps and triggering the performance note.
Note: A future MovieSlate update will make Auto-Save Performance Laps work independently of the Auto-Stop Stopwatch setting.
