Frequently Asked Questions

We know you have them, here are answers to the common ones.

Frequently Asked Question Posted 02/03/2012

I've exported my shot log from MovieSlate to Final Cut Pro 7 XML format, now what do I do with it?

  • In Final Cut Pro, choose File > Import > XML.

  • Navigate to the XML file on your hard disk, then click Choose.

  • In the Import XML dialog, select the options and settings appropriate to your XML file.

  • Click OK.

The Importing XML Data progress bar appears as Final Cut Pro processes the XML and generates clips, bins, or sequences from the XML file.

You will then need to re-connect your clips to your media. The following page in the Final Cut Pro 7 User Guide details this process: Reconnecting Clips to Media Files

For a more visual guide on how to reconnect your clips, watch this YouTube video: How to Reconnect Media in Final Cut Pro

(For Final Cut Pro X XML support, please consult our FAQ “Will MovieSlate support the new XML format introduced by Final Cut Pro X 10.0.3 update?”, we will update that FAQ when MovieSlate supports the new XML format.)
